Country artist Hardy recently shared his enthusiasm for Sleep Token, praising the anonymous band’s fresh sound and aesthetic in an interview featured on Rolling Stone.
When asked about the artists he’s currently listening to, Hardy didn’t hesitate to express his admiration for the mysterious group.
“Me and everybody else in the world: Sleep Token. I love Sleep Token, man. Sleep Token is the last thing that I’ve heard,” Hardy said.
He went on to defend the band’s unique approach, emphasizing the importance of listening without preconceptions.
“And, if you just don’t tell anybody what genre it is, just listen to it and make an assessment, it’s fresh and it’s cool. The melodies are dope. He’s got a very dope voice,” he continued. “There’s a big, weird sexual energy with a lot of it, which I think is super cool. The fact that they’re all anonymous and in this spooky-ass shit, it’s just aesthetically really, really cool.”
Hardy’s comments highlight Sleep Token’s growing influence across different music scenes, transcending traditional genre boundaries.
Hardy’s praise comes at a remarkable time for Sleep Token. The band continues to achieve unprecedented success in the hard rock and metal scenes. SNS Mix reported that Sleep Token’s 2025 album Even In Arcadia debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking the band’s first chart-topping album and a rare achievement for a hard rock band. The album sold 127,000 first-week equivalent units, with a record 47,000 vinyl copies sold — the largest vinyl sales week for a hard rock album since tracking began in 1991.
The band’s rise has been meteoric over the past two years. Rock Sound noted that Sleep Token won the Top Hard Rock Album award at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards for Take Me Back To Eden. Their single “The Summoning” was certified Gold for 500,000 units sold. The band also took home Best Album at the 2024 Heavy Music Awards for the same record, cementing their status as one of the most innovative acts in heavy music.
Sleep Token’s anonymous identity concept, which Hardy specifically praised, has become a defining characteristic of their artistic vision. Sleep Token’s official guide explained that band members wear elaborate masks and costumes that contribute to a ritualistic and theatrical atmosphere. This emphasizes the music as a spiritual offering to the deity called “Sleep.” Their live performances feature dramatic visual and auditory storytelling with lighting effects and symbolic imagery that create immersive experiences beyond just the music.
Hardy’s openness to Sleep Token’s genre-blending sound reflects a broader trend of musical fluidity in today’s industry. While primarily known as a country artist, Hardy has shown a willingness to embrace elements outside traditional country music, including alternative and rock influences. This crossover appreciation underscores how artists across different genres are recognizing Sleep Token’s innovative and emotionally resonant approach to heavy music, breaking down barriers between country, metal, and alternative scenes.
