Sky announces new Nick Cave documentary, ‘The Veiled World of Nick Cave’

Sky have announced details of a new Nick Cave documentary.

The one-off special has been given the working title, The Veiled World of Nick Cave, which is set to air on Sky Documentaries later this year.

The Veiled World of Nick Cave is set to feature musicians such as Florence Welch, as well as his close collaborator Warren Ellis and Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood, who is currently also part of the Bad Seeds.

Other contributors include designer Bella Freud, filmmaker Wim Wenders and writer Irvine Welsh, who will discuss how Cave has inspired their work.

Phil Edgar-Jones OBE, executive director of unscripted originals at Sky said of the documentary in a statement: “Nick Cave is one of those incomparable artists whose power of storytelling knows no bounds. His vivid landscapes are brought to life through his lyrics, his books, his music and his ceramics.”

Edgar-Jones continued, “We’re delighted to be lifting the lid on his brilliantly multi-layered world in this special.”

Additionally, Sky has also teamed up with Cave for an adaptation of his 2009 novel The Death of Bunny Munro, starring Matt Smith, which is set to arrive on Sky and Now TV as a six-part series on November 20th.

Cave published the novel in 2009, and also serves as an executive producer on the series in addition to creating the soundtrack alongside Ellis.

The synopsis for the six-part series reads, “Following his wife Libby’s death by suicide, sex addicted door-to-door beauty salesman and self-professed lothario Bunny Munro (Matt Smith), finds himself saddled with his young son, Bunny Junior, and only a loose concept of parenting.”

It continues: “As the two struggle to contain their grief in wildly different ways, Bunny takes Junior on the road for an increasingly out-of-control door-to-door sales tour around Brighton and the surrounding coast.”
