Bruce Hall Reveals There’s One Thing Stopping REO Speedwagon Reunion with Kevin Cronin

Bruce Hall recently addressed fan questions about REO Speedwagon’s future plans following the band members’ appearance at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Homecoming parade. He shared his thoughts in a post on Facebook.

Hall initially shared his enthusiasm about the event, stating he had a great time with the University of Illinois Marching Illini. However, a fan’s question prompted him to reveal more about the band’s potential reunion plans.

When asked whether REO Speedwagon was finished or if there were plans to continue, Hall responded candidly about the situation.

“Not sure to be honest,” Hall said. “Alan, Neal and I would love to tour! We need Kevin to join us. Hopefully he will want to as well.”

The statement suggests that while three band members are interested in touring, the reunion depends on Kevin Cronin’s participation. Hall’s comments come after a historic reunion performance that reignited fan hopes for more collaborative shows.

Rock and Roll Garage reported that the classic lineup featuring Kevin Cronin on vocals and guitar, Bruce Hall on bass, Neal Doughty on keyboards, and Alan Gratzer on drums reunited for a special performance at the University of Illinois Homecoming event in late September 2025. This marked the first time all four members had performed together since 1988.

The band served as grand marshals for the parade and performed with over 400 members of the university’s marching band during halftime. The setlist included classic hits “Ridin’ the Storm Out,” “Roll With the Changes,” and “157 Riverside Avenue.”

The reunion sparked hope for a potential farewell tour. WIXY noted that Kevin Cronin mentioned they would see what might follow the performance, emphasizing the positive energy and commitment to the fans. However, Cronin has been touring with his own band, the Kevin Cronin Band, which includes former REO Speedwagon members Dave Amato and Bryan Hitt as part of “The Brotherhood of Rock Tour” with Styx and Don Felder.

Ultimate Classic Rock revealed that a different lineup of REO Speedwagon, including Bruce Hall, Neal Doughty, Alan Gratzer, Terry Luttrell, Mike Murphy, and Steve Scorfina, is scheduled to perform a one-off concert in Champaign in June 2025. This event is being held to raise money for the REO Speedwagon Foundation and does not include Kevin Cronin.

Further developments about a full reunion tour remain to be seen as the band members navigate their separate musical commitments.
