Gene Simmons issues statement after being hospitalised in car crash

Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has said he is “completely fine” after being hospitalised following a car crash earlier this week.

On October 7th, Simmons’ Lincoln Navigator crashed into a parked car in Malibu at around 1pm local time on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly afterwards. They later shared that Simmons spoke to first responders and explained that he had passed out or fainted before accidentally crashing into the parked car after losing his consciousness.

It later emerged through Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, who told NBC 4 Los Angeles that doctors recently changed his medications and medical professionals have informed him that he needs to drink more water, which the rock musician apparently is struggling to do.

Tweed said he is currently doing fine, which Simmons has since backed up in a statement on social media. On X, Simmons wrote, “Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine.”

He then admitted to being at fault for the incident, adding, “I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”

Additionally, a representative for Kiss has told Billboard that Simmons is “already back to work” following the incident.

Simmons previously worried fans at a concert in Brazil with Kiss on their farewell tour in 2023 when he appeared to be struggling. He later issued a statement explaining to fans it was “nothing serious” and shared that he had “experienced weakness because of dehydration.”

He added on social media, “We stopped for about five minutes, I drank some water, and then all was well.”

Next month, Kiss are set to reunite for an unmasked show in honour of the Kiss Army fan club’s 50th anniversary next month. The celebrations will take place in Las Vegas at Virgin Hotels from November 14th to November 16th.
