Gary Holt recently shared exciting updates about the upcoming Exodus album in an interview with 107.7 The Bone.
The guitarist revealed that the album is essentially complete. The band continues to refine it, though.
“New album will be done today,” Holt said. “I mean, it’s technically been done for a month, but since we have the time, we keep messing with it a little bit. Mark Lewis has been mixing it, and we did some additional overdubs in other spots.”
Holt expressed strong confidence in the quality of the new material.
“It’s something else, man. It’s crushing, but it’s also all anthems,” he continued. “Every song’s an anthem. It’s awesome. We’re super proud of this record.”
The new album represents a significant milestone for the thrash metal veterans. They have been meticulously crafting their follow-up to 2021’s Persona Non Grata.
Blabbermouth reported that the album is tentatively scheduled for release in March 2026 via Napalm Records. The band initially aimed for a 2024 or 2025 release but postponed it multiple times to ensure the quality would match or surpass their previous work.
The recording process has been notably ambitious. Lambgoat noted that Exodus recorded nearly two albums’ worth of material, with about 20 to 22 songs produced in total. This strategic approach aims to create a large backlog of material ready for future releases without downtime between albums.
Mark Lewis has been handling the mixing duties and additional overdubs for the new record. He brings professional expertise to the project. His involvement marks an important collaboration for Exodus as they fine-tune what Holt describes as their most anthemic work to date.
Recording began around early 2025. Drums wrapped up early in the process. MetalSucks revealed that the band actively balanced their touring schedule with studio work, with recording sessions initially planned for February 2025. The album title and complete track listing have not been officially announced yet.
