Trivium Join Growing Drummer Change Trend, Part Ways with Alex Bent

Trivium has announced the departure of drummer Alex Bent after nine years with the band, as shared on Trivium’s official Instagram.

Bent released a statement reflecting on his time with the metal band and his future plans.

“I am beyond grateful for the incredible past nine years with Trivium — filled with unforgettable moments, music, and friendships that I’ll always carry with me,” he said. “I’m so proud of every record and tour we created together, and I know Trivium will continue to dominate the world; they’ll always have my support.”

Bent also addressed his future in music following this transition.

“While this chapter has come to a close, this is by no means the end of my path as a musician,” he continued. “I’m excited for this new chapter, and I look forward to continuing to create, perform, and share music in new ways. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. Your encouragement means the world.”

The band responded with a brief statement: “Trivium wishes Alex Bent success on his future endeavors as he exits the band.”

The departure comes at a busy time for Trivium. The band is scheduled to perform at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California, later today.

Blabbermouth reported that Bent joined Trivium around 2016 and contributed to several major albums during his tenure. His drumming can be heard on The Sin and the Sentence (2017), What the Dead Men Say (2020), and In the Court of the Dragon (2021), albums that helped solidify Trivium’s position in the modern metal scene.

The band has not yet announced a replacement for Bent. Lambgoat noted that Trivium will embark on “The Ascend Above The Ashes” tour starting October 31 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, running through December 14. The tour will include special guests JINJER and HERIOT, with a hometown show scheduled in Orlando, Florida.

Despite the timing of Bent’s departure, The PRP confirmed that the band remains committed to their upcoming performance schedule and tour dates. The announcement leaves fans wondering who will fill the drum seat for these high-profile shows.
