The cross-generational collaboration has drawn enthusiastic praise from both Aerosmith members. They described their experience working with the young artist in glowing terms.
“The decision to meet Yungblud and make this music with him… was like plugging into pure electricity!” Tyler said. “For Joe and me it was another cosmic collision, to find ourselves in the studio with this outrageously talented and positively wild animal named Dom.”
Perry echoed similar sentiments about the British rocker’s talent and authenticity.
“I heard his single and said, hell yeah, this guy’s got the juice,” Perry said. “I called Steven and told him, you have to hear this guy Yungblud — he’s the real deal.”
This collaboration represents more than just a musical partnership between generations. It marks a significant moment for both artists during pivotal points in their careers.
Stage Right Secrets reported that the EP features four original tracks co-written by both Aerosmith and Yungblud. Production was handled by Matt Schwartz. The project showcases both Tyler and Yungblud sharing vocal duties across the tracks, creating a unique blend of their distinctive styles.
One standout track from the collaboration is “My Only Angel.” Rock 103 Columbus noted that it opens with delayed guitars, a steady beat, and soft piano before culminating in a signature Joe Perry guitar solo. This perfectly demonstrates the chemistry between the two generations of rockers.
The partnership between these artists didn’t emerge overnight. Audiophix revealed that the collaboration follows several recent shared moments, including their joint performance at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and prior appearances together at Osbourne’s final “Back to the Beginning” concert in July. These shared experiences deepened their connection and naturally set the stage for this recording project.
The timing of this collaboration is particularly significant for Aerosmith. It comes during the band’s touring hiatus following Tyler’s vocal injury. Guitar World indicated that this project signals a new creative chapter for the legendary band while Perry continues to keep rock alive across generations through his ongoing tour with the Joe Perry Project.
