Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande has confirmed that the band is actively working on new music. He shared exciting updates about their creative process in a recent interview with Drummer’s Review.
When asked about a new Slipknot album, Casagrande provided insight into the band’s current activities. He confirmed that new material is definitely on the way.
“What I can tell you right now is that we are cooking, we are doing some new music, for sure. Yes, we are,” Casagrande said.
The drummer elaborated on the collaborative process that has been underway since he joined the band.
“Since I joined the band, we have been working on some new ideas. We keep exchanging guitar riffs, drum beats, so we are always doing something. We had also some jam sessions. So we have a lot of material right now,” he continued. “We just have to sit and put everything together, start jamming, and it’s happening. It already happened. It’s gonna happen in the future. So new material is coming, for sure.”
Casagrande’s comments align with recent statements from other band members about Slipknot’s creative direction and their work on what will be their eighth studio album.
Wikipedia reported that band member Shawn Crahan revealed in a January 8, 2025 interview at Knotfest that the new album is currently in progress. This confirmation comes as the band continues to celebrate their 25th anniversary tour, marking a quarter-century since the release of their groundbreaking debut album.
Casagrande officially joined Slipknot in February 2024. The band publicly confirmed his membership on April 30, 2024, as Louder Sound noted. He replaced Jay Weinberg, who was dismissed in November 2023. The announcement coincided with a photo on Instagram showing the band’s revamped masks and outfits, signaling a new era for the iconic metal group.
Before joining Slipknot, Casagrande built an impressive career as the drummer for Sepultura from November 2011 until early 2024. He recorded three albums with the legendary Brazilian metal band. Blabbermouth detailed that his audition process for Slipknot was comprehensive. It involved several days of jamming and recording to test chemistry and his ability to contribute creatively in the studio environment. Casagrande spent ten days in the US during his audition before being offered the role.
The Brazilian drummer’s addition to Slipknot represents a significant creative shift for the band. Both Corey Taylor and percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan have expressed enthusiasm about Casagrande joining and the band’s new direction. Casagrande himself posted on social media expressing excitement about joining the band and the journey ahead. He noted it was “an exciting moment” and signaled readiness for new pain and intensity in their music.
Fans can expect new Slipknot music as the band continues to develop their accumulated ideas into finished tracks with their newly solidified lineup.
