Slash Has Some Good and Bad News About New Guns N’ Roses Album

Slash recently discussed the status of a new Guns N’ Roses album in an interview with Guitar World. He revealed both progress and challenges.

The guitarist addressed the band’s creative process and the obstacles they face in completing new material.

When asked about the new Guns N’ Roses album, Slash explained the band’s current situation. “There’s so much material at this point — it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and f*cking get into it,” he said. “But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time, and we’re going to do this.’”

He elaborated on the band’s unpredictable creative approach and why traditional planning doesn’t work for them.

“Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart,” Slash continued. “It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, it’s off and running. So it’s coming. I know it’s coming because everybody is thinking about it. It’ll just happen when it happens.”

Slash’s comments reflect a long-standing pattern in the band’s creative process. Spontaneous inspiration takes precedence over structured planning.

Music Radar reported that the guitarist emphasized the band’s historical lack of discipline and reliance on spontaneous inspiration continue to delay a finalized release. Despite having a large stockpile of material, the band struggles to focus and complete an album in a traditional manner.

Other band members have echoed similar sentiments about new music. Bassist Duff McKagan separately confirmed the band plans to release new music in the future, WRAT noted. However, no specific details or schedule have been announced.

Speculation exists around potential new songs with circulating titles such as “Monsters,” “Atlas Shrugged,” and “Hard Skool.” These remain unofficial and unconfirmed. The band’s approach to recording continues to prioritize organic creativity over predetermined timelines.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding a release date, Slash remains confident that new Guns N’ Roses music will eventually materialize. The guitarist’s remarks suggest that fans will need patience as the band waits for the right creative moment to strike.
