Upcoming rock titans Geese have played a free album release show in Brooklyn to celebrate their third album, Getting Killed.
On September 26th, Cameron Winter, Emily Green, Dominic DiGesu, and Max Bassin released their third album, Getting Killed. A day later, they played a free release show at Banker’s Anchor in Brooklyn for fans to hear much of the widely praised album played live for the first time.
The young rock outfit played eleven songs at the show, which saw huge congregations of people gathering on rooftops to catch a glimpse of the event. They played most of the tracks from the new full-length, largely following the order of the official release, but opting to finish with the album opener, ‘Trinidad‘.
The band also threw in crowd favorites ‘2122’ and ‘Mysterious Love’ halfway through the set, hailing from 2023’s 3D Country. The band notably left out the final song on the album, the racing six-minute ‘Long Island City Here I Come’, as well as ‘Cobra’.
This event follows on from two shows at London’s The George Tavern, where tickets sold out in a matter of minutes for the small venue.
Getting Killed was Far Out‘s album of the week, receiving a triumphant four-and-a-half-star review. Far Out observed, “An insecurity that’s usually been protected by slacker-rock humour seems to have fallen away on Getting Killed and Winter fully embraces the different flecks of his vocal timbre, not hiding its idiosyncrasies but instead embracing them.
The result of which is a heightened humanisation of the records, more tender takes, making it at times, a fitting voice for this obscure new age of indie. Somewhere between humorous, obscure and outright despondent, he, along with the rest of this band, has become a bastion of twisted hope on Getting Killed.”
