Magdalena Bay return with double single ‘Second Sleep’

Magdalena Bay have returned with their twinkling indie-pop double single, ‘Second Sleep’ and ‘Star Eyes’, following up their 2024 sophomore album Imaginal Disk.

The pair shared of the new songs, “‘Second Sleep’ and ‘Star Eyes’ are two songs we made around the end of Imaginal Disk–both a sort of spiritual successor to the album’s mood and emotional arc. We like how they complement each other, so here they are as a pair.”

The official video accompanying the free-wheeling ‘Second Sleep’ was directed by Amalia Irons and shows lead singer Mica Tenenbaum traipsing through a cold blue city scape, encountering odd characters on her way. “Second sleep is calling out to me / If I don’t wake up, oh / I have the sense not to make a mess.”

The Los Angeles duo are currently in the middle of a sold-out North American tour. In July, they supported Billie Eilish at London’s O2 Arena, and will return to the UK and Europe in early 2026. They bring a surrealist, psychedelic story to each of their live shows, despite their early roots in prog-rock.

The pair have an impressive history of playing with the best artists in the pop and alternative world. They have sold out multiple headline tours and played numerous festivals around the world—including Coachella, Primavera Sound, and Lollapalooza.

They have also recently teased the release of their long-awaited album movie. Directed by Amanda Kramer and written and edited by Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin, the film elaborates on the world of Imaginal Disk. A press release promises that further details are “imminent.”

Far Out gave their 2024 offering, Imaginal Disk, three and a half stars, writing, “As if proof of their tight creative partnership and near life-long understanding of each other’s influences, interests and inner worlds, Imaginal Disk feels like a perfect product of Magdalena Bay’s relationship, where that closeness allows them to manage fun, experimentation, outright joy and deeper intrigue in a careful balance.”
