Lorna Shore rhythm guitarist Andrew O’Connor has addressed speculation about a potential rivalry between his band and Slaughter to Prevail. He made his position clear in a recent statement shared on Louder Sound.
O’Connor’s comments directly addressed the ongoing rumors about competition between the two deathcore bands.
“There’s no rivalry between us (with Slaughter To Prevail) whatsoever,” O’Connor said. “To be honest, we don’t pay any attention to what they’re doing. We’re only interested in what we want to do.”
The band’s vocalist, Will Ramos, also shared insights about Lorna Shore’s unexpected rise to prominence in the metal scene.
“The fun thing is not knowing how we got so big,” Ramos said. “Not having control over what we’re doing and just letting it work its way out is more exciting than sitting there and trying to figure out how we captured lightning in a bottle. That’s boring.”
He emphasized the organic nature of their success, adding, “And I think the fact that it happened organically is like a bonus. Everything’s very genuine. Maybe that has something to do with why people like it.”
Both bands have been making significant waves in the deathcore scene. Their recent releases have generated considerable buzz among metal fans worldwide.
The rivalry speculation comes at a time when both Lorna Shore and Slaughter to Prevail have been releasing standout tracks that showcase the evolution of deathcore. YouTube reported that Lorna Shore’s recent track “Cursed to Die” and Slaughter to Prevail’s “1984” have sparked passionate discussions among fans about the future direction of the genre.
Lorna Shore’s journey to prominence hasn’t been without its challenges. Wikipedia documented that the band has undergone notable lineup changes in recent years, including replacing their vocalist and guitarist. This underscores their resilience and continued growth in the metal scene. These changes have actually contributed to their current success. Will Ramos joined as vocalist and helped to define their distinctive sound.
The band’s organic rise to fame reflects a broader trend in the deathcore community. Authenticity and genuine musical expression resonate more strongly with audiences than manufactured hype. This approach has allowed Lorna Shore to build a dedicated fanbase that appreciates their commitment to artistic integrity over industry politics.
Meanwhile, both bands continue to push the boundaries of deathcore. Their respective approaches to the genre create healthy competition that ultimately benefits the entire metal community. Rather than fostering rivalry, this dynamic has encouraged innovation and creativity within the scene.
