The musician discussed how his approach has shifted with his latest Mammoth album. He is now focusing more on balance and confidence in the songs themselves rather than technical displays.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis record was more about finding a sense of balance,\u201d Van Halen said. \u201cOn the second album [Mammoth II], I was so stoked to get back in the studio, I guess I was more confident and able to play more solos. Now I\u2019m comfortably in that space, this album was more about relaxing a bit and finding more confidence in the songs, instead of trying to prove myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
He emphasized that he\u2019s reached a new phase in his career. The pressure to demonstrate his abilities has lifted.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve done all that already,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo this is the point where I get to have fun!\u201d<\/p>\n
