Lorna Shore guitarist Adam De Micco recently shared his controversial take on Guns N\u2019 Roses\u2019 iconic hit \u201cSweet Child O\u2019 Mine\u201d in an interview with Guitar World.<\/p>\n
When asked about the band\u2019s approach to their new album following the success of Pain Remains, De Micco explained how touring influenced his songwriting perspective.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter touring Pain Remains, riffs or ideas I thought were cool didn\u2019t land when we played them live,\u201d De Micco said. \u201cYou realize a part is too complicated, or isn\u2019t musical or digestible.\u201d<\/p>\n
The guitarist then shared an unexpected example that shaped his creative direction.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was at the gym once and heard Guns \u2018n\u2019 Roses. Sweet Child O\u2019 Mine is a terrible song \u2013 I hate Axl\u2019s voice and don\u2019t even like Slash\u2019s playing, but it stands the test of time,\u201d he explained. \u201cNowadays music comes and goes in less than a year, yet there are bands from 30, 40 years ago, and people are still excited to hear it, and I\u2019m like, \u2018How?’\u201d<\/p>\n
De Micco clarified that this observation became his main inspiration for writing timeless music.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was my main inspiration \u2013 writing something timeless. I wanted to write a guitar lick that some kid wanted to learn. Crazy Train was mine and Andrew\u2019s,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
De Micco\u2019s philosophy on timeless songwriting has directly influenced the band\u2019s latest creative output.
