Actor Shailene Woodley has opened up about playing legendary singer-songwriter Janis Joplin in a new biopic.<\/p>\n
Last year, it was confirmed that Woodley would be starring in and producing the project, which is set to be filmed over a 30-day period and receive part of the financing from the California Film Commission.<\/p>\n
The film, which has been titled Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can, remains in the pre-production phase as Woodley prepares to bring the tragic tale of the musical icon, who died aged 27 in 1970, to the big screen for the first time.<\/p>\n
In a new interview with People, Woodley has admitted to feeling nervous in regards to the singing aspect of the movie, sharing, \u201cSinging is very scary. It\u2019s very vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the film, Woodley has teamed up with 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry on the musical aspect of the movie, who she praised as being \u201can incredible songwriter, singer and music producer\u201d. Woodley added, \u201cShe and I have been working very closely for a few years now.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Golden Globe-nominated actor has spoken on several occasions, including on an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, when she explained how it took many years to get the movie to this current stage.<\/p>\n
Woodley told the late-night host, \u201cWe\u2019ve been working on it for seven years now, and it\u2019s just, she\u2019s such a groovy chick, man. She really brought the light to this planet in a really singular way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Initially, when the movie was first announced in 2024, Woodley said in a press release: \u201cBeing a Los Angeles native myself, and having grown up working alongside industry locals, knowing our film will be created with some of the most gifted, passionate, and devotional people leaves me giddy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Big Little Lies star continued, \u201cI have a feeling Janis would be smiling ear to ear zipping down the PCH in her psychedelic Porsche, knowing her story is bringing opportunities and funding to the city and people that held so much significance in her life.\u201d<\/p>\n
As it stands, there remains no further information on when Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can will receive a cinematic release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
