Trivium has announced the departure of drummer Alex Bent after nine years with the band, as shared on Trivium\u2019s official Instagram.<\/p>\n
Bent released a statement reflecting on his time with the metal band and his future plans.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am beyond grateful for the incredible past nine years with Trivium \u2014 filled with unforgettable moments, music, and friendships that I\u2019ll always carry with me,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m so proud of every record and tour we created together, and I know Trivium will continue to dominate the world; they\u2019ll always have my support.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bent also addressed his future in music following this transition.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile this chapter has come to a close, this is by no means the end of my path as a musician,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m excited for this new chapter, and I look forward to continuing to create, perform, and share music in new ways. The band responded with a brief statement: \u201cTrivium wishes Alex Bent success on his future endeavors as he exits the band.\u201d<\/p>\n
The departure comes at a busy time for Trivium. The band is scheduled to perform at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California, later today.<\/p>\n
Blabbermouth reported that Bent joined Trivium around 2016 and contributed to several major albums during his tenure. His drumming can be heard on The Sin and the Sentence (2017), What the Dead Men Say (2020), and In the Court of the Dragon (2021), albums that helped solidify Trivium\u2019s position in the modern metal scene.<\/p>\n
The band has not yet announced a replacement for Bent. Lambgoat noted that Trivium will embark on \u201cThe Ascend Above The Ashes\u201d tour starting October 31 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, running through December 14.
