Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed his ambitions to play The Sphere in Las Vegas with Queen.<\/p>\n
May made the revelation in a new interview with Rolling Stone to celebrate the 50th anniversary of \u2018Bohemian Rhapsody\u2019. In addition to reflecting on the band\u2019s legacy, he also looked forward to what the future may hold for them.<\/p>\n
Queen haven\u2019t performed live in more than 18 months since they played at the Tokyo Dome in Japan last December with Adam Lambert on vocal duties. While they have no future dates pencilled in currently, their chapter with Lambert is set to continue, according to May and Roger Taylor.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019re done,\u201d Taylor told Rolling Stone. The drummer continued, \u201cAnd I don\u2019t think we\u2019re gonna say, you know, final farewell tour or whatever. \u2019Cause it never is, is it?\u201d<\/p>\n
May then revealed that Queen have worked on new music with Lambert; however, it\u2019s yet to become anything fully formed. He shared, \u201cNot many people know, but Adam and we have been in the studio trying things. Nothing really materialized so far. Some things are meant to be and some things are not.\u201d<\/p>\n
He then lifted the lid on potentially bringing their live show to The Sphere, revealing that watching the Eagles at the venue in Las Vegas convinced him that it would be a positive idea for Queen.<\/p>\n
May said, \u201c\u200aI\u2019m very keen on the Sphere. It\u2019s got my mind working. I sat there watching the Eagles, thinking, \u2018We should do this. The stuff that we could bring to this would be stupendous.\u2019 So, yeah, I would like to do it. We\u2019re having conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since opening its doors in 2023 with a U2 residency, The Sphere has become the global premier venue for legacy acts, with other bands who have performed at the state-of-the-art facility, including the Eagles, Phish and Dead & Company.<\/p>\n
Pink Floyd\u2019s David Gilmour also recently opened the door to a show at The Sphere, albeit with a unique twist, sharing, \u201cThe Sphere? Well, you know, I\u2019m hoping, one of these days, to go there and sit and watch myself doing it, which is something I\u2019ve always wanted to do. My avatar, you know?
