Scott Stapp thinks SZA\u2019s praise of Creed made him \u2018cool.\u2019<\/p>\n

The vocalist joined an interview with Revolver and shared how he felt when SZA spoke highly of Creed and their 1999 song, \u2018Higher\u2019:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt definitely made me a cool dad in my house with my teenage daughter and teenage son.\u201d<\/p>\n

SZA\u2019s Words On Creed<\/h2>\n

In a conversation with Variety in late 2023,\u00a0\u00a0SZA revealed<\/a>\u00a0that she loves the music of Creed and Nickelback despite their polarizing image. She stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe other day you know what I pulled up? Creed, Nickelback, Train\u2019s \u2018Drops of Jupiter,\u2019 just a whole bunch of that. Wait, you know what\u2019s crazy? Do white people hate Creed and Nickelback? Why? Black people love them! They rock! That sh*t is bomb!\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, the singer expressed her admiration for \u2018Higher,\u2019 saying:<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Higher\u2019? Why are you hating on it? Have you ever felt more inspired and uplifted in your life? I\u2019m in the car and I\u2019m blasting \u2018Higher,\u2019 I feel like it\u2019s a gospel song, the vocals are going crazy and it\u2019s also somehow slightly romantic, it just feels so fun. Because even if it\u2019s cliche, he\u2019s so f*cking dead a**! I will be a Creed fan forever. Like, it started just on a whim in the shower, \u2018Oh, let\u2019s play this,\u2019 and then it became a week of Creed and Nickelback [laughs].\u201d<\/p>\n

What Does Scott Think About Backlash Against Creed?<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Creed didn\u2019t always receive praise from others. The band also faced criticism during the height of their success from the media and music listeners.\u00a0Stapp addressed<\/a>\u00a0this backlash last month in a chat with Heavy Consequence:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started off with the critical acclaim and then the success got so enormous that the critics were like, \u2018We\u2019re not supposed to like them. They\u2019re too big and successful. We\u2019ve got to go find some band over here that nobody knows about that\u2019s quirky and different. That\u2019s what we\u2019re going to call cool today.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The rocker added:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd not to say that the quirky and different band wasn\u2019t incredible and talented and wrote great songs but that\u2019s kind of how it felt at the time. The critics were just anti-popular. So as soon as a band got popular in the mainstream, it was time to shift the narrative, and so that\u2019s how it felt living it in real-time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Creed is currently performing in different cities of the United States. They have scheduled shows until early December. The band is playing together for the first time in 12 years.<\/p>\n
