\u201cIf I had my druthers, this would be the Poison 40th-anniversary tour, but also call it \u2018Poison Versus The World 40th Anniversary\u2019 because for 40 years we\u2019ve been the underdog,\u201d Rockett said. \u201cI think it honestly helps us. People love to root for the underdog, and it keeps it fresh in a lot of ways.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve never been the industry darlings. I kind of wear that with a badge of honor \u2014 honestly, I do,\u201d he continued. \u201cI have no desire to change course because of what\u2019s happening in music. What are we gonna be \u2014 suddenly sound like Olivia Rodrigo? [Laughs] Or Chappell Roan? [Laughs]\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou should pay attention to what\u2019s happening in music. You should have your ear to the ground,\u201d Rockett explained. \u201cBut if you completely sell out to change, everyone\u2019s gonna see that. It doesn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the grunge thing happened, I watched a lot of our contemporaries, all of a sudden they changed the way they dressed, they changed the way they sounded, what they were saying in interviews and everything, and it\u2019s, like, \u2018Dude, nobody\u2019s buying it.\u2019 And it didn\u2019t work,\u201d he added. \u201cIt didn\u2019t work for any of them \u2014 not one\u2026 Evolving is one thing, but making a left from a right, that\u2019s a whole different thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rockett\u2019s comments emerge as Poison approaches a significant milestone in their career. The band has already begun planning their 40th anniversary celebration.<\/p>\n
