Judas Priest\u00a0frontman Rob Halford has revealed that he recorded a version of the iconic Black Sabbath hit \u2018War Pigs\u2019 with Ozzy Osbourne prior to his death, which will eventually be released.<\/p>\n
The heavy metal singer was speaking in a recent interview on the\u00a0Full Metal Jackie\u00a0<\/em>radio show, in which he paid tribute to the Black Sabbath leader by unveiling details of the pair\u2019s upcoming single release, reimagining a version of \u2018War Pigs\u2019 that Halford and his band put out earlier this year.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cWhat is cool and what is kind of waiting in the wings is Ozzy singing with me doing \u2018War Pigs\u2019 together. We\u2019ve been able to do that. It\u2019s there, we\u2019re just having to go through all the rigmarole of legal clearance and so on and so forth.\u201d<\/p>\n Explaining that the idea for the duet came about after Sharon Osbourne approached him saying, \u201cI love your version of \u2018War Pigs.\u2019 Is there a way we can get Ozzy?\u201d, Halford noted the sheer significance of what the opportunity\u00a0meant to him.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s the first ever time in my entire life that I\u2019ve been able to do a duet with Ozzy and I\u2019m so eternally grateful and blessed that I was able to do that,\u201d he reflected, before adding that the fresh version of \u2018War Pigs\u2019 is \u201cjust colossal\u201d.<\/p>\n Judas Priest\u00a0released their own cover of \u2018War Pigs\u2019\u00a0after they were invited, but sadly unable to attend, Osbourne\u2019s final concert Back to the Beginning, which was held at Villa Park in Birmingham in early July.<\/p>\n The band have often used the iconic Black Sabbath tune, taken from their seminal sophomore album\u00a0Paranoid\u00a0<\/em>released in 1970. It has evidently taken on an even greater importance to Halford ever since Osbourne\u2019s sudden passing only weeks after his final concert, on July 22nd.<\/p>\n No further details on the release of Halford and Osbourne\u2019s new version of \u2018War Pigs\u2019 have been revealed yet.<\/p>\n
