Hatebreed’s Wayne Lozinak returned to the stage for his first live performance following brain surgery. He shared an emotional message with fans on Instagram.
Last week, Lozinak announced his return and provided details about his health journey.
“Hello everyone! Wanted to let you all know that I will be returning to the stage on October 2nd, at After Shock Festival,” he said. “In case you missed it, I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in June. Had surgery to have it removed, the healing process went really well and I am feeling great now. Ready to get back in action! There are still tickets available, so get them now. See you there.”
Following his successful performance at After Shock Festival, Lozinak expressed his gratitude to fans.
“Thanks to everyone for ALL the Love this weekend. This was a GREAT first show back! Felt really good to be playing on the stage again,” he continued. “I’ll be seeing you in a few days UK.”
Lozinak’s health crisis began in mid-June 2024 when he experienced stroke-like symptoms while performing at Download Festival in England. Vice reported that he sought immediate medical attention in Lille, France, where a CT scan revealed the benign brain tumor.
The guitarist underwent a craniotomy on August 4, 2024. This surgical procedure involved opening the skull to remove the tumor located near his left ear. American Songwriter noted that Lozinak described the first week post-operation as “rough” but noted daily improvement and expressed gratitude for the support from fans and medical professionals.
During Lozinak’s recovery period, Hatebreed continued their touring schedule with a fill-in guitarist. 98KUPD confirmed that the band maintained their commitments while their guitarist focused on healing at home.
His successful return to the stage at After Shock Festival marks a significant milestone in his recovery journey. The guitarist is now preparing for upcoming shows in the United Kingdom. This demonstrates his determination to resume his career following the life-changing medical experience.
