Gene Simmons Reacts to Fans Mocking Him For ‘Monetizing’ His Hospital Visit After Car Accident

Gene Simmons recently responded to a viral meme that poked fun at his reputation for commercializing everything, even a hospital visit following his car accident. The KISS frontman shared his reaction on X (formerly Twitter).

The meme depicted a humorous exchange between Simmons and a nurse during his hospitalization after the car crash that occurred a couple of days ago.

In the meme, a nurse tells Gene Simmons: “Mr. Simmons, you’re lucky to be alive!” To which the caricatured Gene Simmons responds: “Great. That will be $20K for the meet and greet.”

Rather than taking offense, Simmons embraced the joke with good humor.

“Oh, I love this cartoon. Ain’t it the truth,” Gene Simmons said in his reaction to the meme.

The meme references the 76-year-old rock legend’s recent hospitalization following a single-vehicle crash on October 7, 2025, along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California.

AXS TV reported that witnesses saw Simmons’ SUV veer across multiple lanes before striking a parked vehicle. Authorities investigating the incident believe Simmons may have experienced a medical episode—such as fainting or a brief loss of consciousness—while driving, potentially linked to dehydration or recent medication adjustments.

The KISS bassist was transported to a nearby hospital for observation as a precautionary measure. He was released the same day following medical evaluation. Both Simmons and his wife, Shannon Tweed, have stated that he is recovering well, is in good condition, and has already resumed light work duties at home.

Simmons personally addressed fans via social media shortly after the crash, writing, “Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens.”

His wife, Shannon Tweed, added that dehydration and recent changes to his medication regimen may have contributed to the incident. She confirmed that Simmons is “recovering comfortably at home.” Reports indicated that Simmons even joked about being a “horrible driver” following the accident, maintaining his characteristic humor through the ordeal.

The response to the meme shows the rock legend’s self-awareness about his well-known business-minded approach to his career and brand, proving that even a hospital visit can’t dampen his sense of humor.
