Cradle of Filth Cancel Yet Another Show, Citing Weird Reason After Band Dispute

Cradle of Filth has cancelled another concert, this time in Mérida, following what the band describes as unprofessional treatment by local promoters and technical issues. The band shared a statement on Instagram.

The band’s official statement addressed the cancellation and the circumstances that led to it.

“We are really sorry to have had to cancel this show Filthlings. We will make it up to you as soon as possible,” the band said in their statement.

The band explained the technical difficulties they encountered during the event.

“We regret the cancellation of today’s Cradle of Filth show in Mérida. Unfortunately, there was a power outage in the city that complicated the technical issues for the local promoters, who were two hours late from the start,” they continued. “The power was out, and three members of our team were victims of electrical shocks, which shouldn’t happen on any production.”

The statement then addressed the conflict with the promoters.

“The promoters didn’t accept this in a professional manner and targeted members of our staff and our artist. Francisco Alberto de la Cruz Rosa of OnsiteLive and his partners basically attacked Cradle of Filth in an unprofessional and cowardly manner,” the band stated. “We condemn this incident and urge all bands in the area NOT to work with these unprofessional individuals.”

Sergio Roa from Drmrs Entertainment added further details about the situation.

“Until right now, they have picked the phone zero times and we got able to help our artist by external people to the show, due that the ‘promoters’ kept the venue closed so no one went in or out,” Roa explained.

This cancellation follows recent changes in the band’s lineup. Zoë M. Federoff announced her departure from Cradle of Filth, followed by her husband Marek “Ashok” Šmerda being dismissed from the group. The band has also had to cancel several other concerts citing technical reasons. Additionally, the band has disabled comments on their social media posts to prevent negative reactions.

The Mérida incident represents part of a broader pattern of touring difficulties that have plagued Cradle of Filth in recent months. The British extreme metal band has faced multiple logistical challenges that have disrupted their live performance schedule across different continents.

Loudwire reported that the band was forced to cancel four U.S. tour dates due to visa problems. These administrative issues significantly impacted their North American touring schedule. These administrative issues have become increasingly common for international bands attempting to tour in the United States, where visa processing delays can derail carefully planned tour itineraries.

The band’s South American tour has also encountered similar setbacks. Metal Underground documented how Cradle of Filth faced complications in Ecuador when their flight was rerouted and delayed by runway maintenance. This made it impossible for them to perform in Quito on time. This incident demonstrates how even minor logistical issues can cascade into major tour disruptions for international acts.

These recent cancellations come at a particularly challenging time for the band. They are navigating both lineup changes and operational difficulties. Metal Injection noted that the band has had to make difficult decisions about their touring commitments while working to maintain their reputation with fans and venues alike.

The accumulation of these touring problems highlights the complex challenges facing established metal bands in the current live music landscape. Technical issues, visa complications, and promotional disputes can quickly derail months of planning and preparation.
