Chris Motionless Is A Proud Swiftie, Wants Metalheads To Be Open Minded

Chris Motionless loves Taylor Swift and thinks it’s wrong to judge music by how someone looks.

“People are baffled if I say I love Taylor Swift, and it’s such a closed-minded way of seeing the world,” the Motionless in White frontman recently told Metal Hammer. “I guess people see what I look like and just take that at face value.”

He went on to say, “I enjoy lots of things outside of the ‘spooky dark’ realm Like, do people not realise that most of their favourite metal artists also enjoy pop music?”

This isn’t the first time Chris has praised Swift’s music. In a 2023 chat at the Rock Am Ring festival in Germany, the singer was asked about something unexpected he’s done that fans might not expect. He responded, via Blabbermouth, “I think it was just seen on the Internet not long that I’m a really big Taylor Swift fan.”

“I went to go see five of her shows on her tour in the U.S. right now — three in Atlanta and two in Philadelphia. I love her stuff. And I don’t care who you are or what style of music that you like or don’t like, you can’t deny her show is phenomenal. The amount of effort and detail that goes into it has to be appreciated no matter what,” Motionless added.

Chris also mentioned Swift in a 2022 Revolver podcast. He revealed, “She’s a phenomenal writer. She writes most of the stuff either herself or very, very heavily involved with it. She’s so, so, so smart in every asset of her musical… Everything she does is genius.”

“And I think she’s a brilliant songwriter. I love her honesty on ‘Folklore’ a lot. And more than anything else, you can feel the songs and they feel so genuine and so relatable. It’s just awesome,” the rocker further shared about his admiration for Swift.

Motionless in White is currently working on a new album after ‘Scoring the End of the World.’ The band is scheduled to perform at Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival on May 8 and at Welcome to Rockville on May 18.
