Bruce Springsteen “desperately” calls for new “effective” US political party

Bruce Springsteen has added to his tirade against Donald Trump by calling out the Democrat party, too.

Speaking to Time, the ‘Born in the USA’ rocker was unafraid to share exactly what he thought of the current political climate in America. First, he continued to feud with Donald Trump, after delivering a 6-minute monologue at every Springsteen show this summer in which he branded Trump and his administration as “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”

Trump publicly hit back at Springsteen’s consistent show of defiance, writing on Truth Social: “This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”

In the new interview, among other comments, Springsteen elaborated on Trump’s character and criticised the Republican administration by extension: “He doesn’t care about the forgotten anybody but himself and the multibillionaires who stood behind him on Inauguration Day. You have to face the fact that a good number of Americans are simply comfortable with his politics of power and dominance.”

Nonetheless, he made a nuanced argument by also critiquing the Democrats, who were led by Kamala Harris during the 2024 election. Springsteen shared: “We’re desperately in need of an effective alternative party, or for the Democratic Party to find someone who can speak to the majority of the nation.”

He added, “There is a problem with the language that they’re using and the way they’re trying to reach people.”

Akin to other comments he has made in the media, Springsteen is still skeptically hopeful that better days are ahead. He added that “conditions are ripe for a demagogue,” and “things have got to be addressed if we want to live in the America of our better angels. I still believe it’s there, but it’s struggling.”

Elsewhere in the world of Springsteen, Jeremy Allen-White is set to star as the icon in an upcoming biopic. Deliver Me From Nowhere, promises to tell the story of how Springsteen hibernated in isolation to produce his 1982 masterpiece, Nebraska, while grappling emotionally with his position on the brink of superstardom.

Deliver Me From Nowhere is set for cinematic release on October 24th, 2025.
