Bruce Hall recently addressed speculation about a potential REO Speedwagon reunion. He shared his thoughts on the possibility of the band coming together one last time, as reported by Chambana Today.
Hall’s comments came in response to questions about whether the upcoming University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Homecoming parade could spark reunion plans. REO Speedwagon members will appear alongside Kevin Cronin at this event.
When asked if this could be a glimmer of hope for the band to reunite one last time and settle some differences, Hall expressed his personal desires for the group’s future.
“In my heart, that’s what I’d love,” Hall said. “I’d love to do a farewell tour for the fans and tell them that we love them and thanks for everything.”
Hall acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his former bandmate’s intentions regarding a potential reunion.
“It would be nice if Kevin would want to do that,” he continued. “I can’t speak for him, so I don’t know what he thinks. I really hope once he gets there, he will feel the excitement, and I hope he enjoys himself and that the power of music brings him back around.”
The comments provide insight into Hall’s hopes for reconciliation as the band members prepare for their homecoming appearance.
This upcoming University of Illinois event holds special significance. It represents a rare gathering of original REO Speedwagon members at the institution where their musical journey began in the 1960s.
American Songwriter reported that founding members Neal Doughty (keyboards) and Alan Gratzer (drums) will also participate in the Homecoming event. This makes it a notable reunion of original band members. The performance will feature a special REO-themed halftime show with a medley of classic hits, accompanied by the Marching Illini.
This homecoming reunion contrasts sharply with recent band dynamics. The Music Universe noted that six former REO Speedwagon members performed together earlier in 2025 without Kevin Cronin. This was partly due to ongoing tensions and Cronin’s separate touring schedule with his own band.
That earlier reunion event served a charitable purpose, benefiting cancer research through the REO Speedwagon Foundation. Ultimate Classic Rock highlighted that the performance emphasized the band’s ongoing commitment to causes beyond music, even amid internal divisions.
The University of Illinois appearance now presents a unique opportunity for all members, including Cronin, to come together on familiar ground where their legendary career first took shape decades ago.
